Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "Every run you score for your country is very important. I would like to start by saying that it was a very good effort from our bowlers. To knock them over on 150, it was a great start. We knew batting won't be easy here but we stepped up and batted long.
Jaiswal has got the talent. We knew about it. He has shown us in the past two years that he is ready for the top level. Not at any stage it looked like he was panicking. He showed the world that he belonged here. While playing the first match, you keep asking yourself whether you belong at this stage. But I was there at the other end telling him that you have done the hard yards and you belong here.
I was just letting them know that we have only one or two overs before we were declaring. I just wanted Kishan to get his first runs in Test cricket. I saw he was sitting in the dressing room waiting to go out. So I knew how eager he was to go out there to bat.
These guys (Ashwin and Jadeja) have been doing this for a number of years. When you have this kind of experience bowling on this kind of surface, it helps. But you have to bowl on the right areas and they did that. Also, Ashwin showed his class by coming out and bowling the way he did today.
We don't worry about the conditions. We try to be ready mentally to play on any surface. We thought we played really well on this surface. We have started very well and just try to carry forward the momentum. We have got young players on the side and it will be about ticking the boxes going ahead in the series."

The spinners R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were the architects of the win sharing nine wickets between them in the second innings and eight in the first as Ashwin finishes with 12 wickets in the match.
West Indies resumed their innings from 27/2 after tea and continued losing wickets at regular interval with Ashwin bagging 7/71. Jadeja bowled 21 overs and ended with figures of 2/38. Mohammed Siraj bowled well in his second spell and got one wicket to send Joshua Da Silva back.
Debutant Alick Athanaze was the top scorer once again for West Indies scoring just 28 runs in 44 balls. Jason Holder remained unbeaten at 20 in 50 balls but did not find much support throughout the order as Ashwin dominated and destroyed the batting order dismissing West Indies for a paltry 130.
The stepping stone was also put by Ashwin in the first innings as he picked up 5/60. The good work was followed by a tremendous batting performance from the batters with Yashasvi Jaiswal (171), Rohit Sharma (103) and Virat Kohli (76) fighting for their runs to score 421/5 before declaring early in the afternoon session today.

W Struck in front and the finger is raised. Warrican decides to send it upstairs since it's the last wicket. A quicker off-break from Ashwin around off, Warrican gets low and goes for a reverse sweep but misses it. He wears it on the back thigh in front of the stumps and Richard Kettleborough has no hesitation in raising his finger. That looked dead to the naked eye.
