That's all from our side as well. Netherlands qualified for Super Sixes along with Zimbabwe and West Indies from group A. I hope you enjoyed our coverage. For now, this is Deepak Prakash signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Prince Suman, and scores/analysts Raju Khariya and Dushyant Madhukar Kumar. CHEERS!
Scott Edwards( Netherlands Captain): "This was the first hurdle for us. We played really well. We'll look through this and move on to the West Indies game in a couple of days. Logan has been great for us during the tournament. We bowled well as a team today. Maxi was incomprehensible. Moving forward, we'll stick to a similar brand of cricket because it helps us. We'll develop some ideas. We'll succeed on Monday if we give it our all."
Rohit Paudel (Nepal Captain):"I thought we were short in runs, especially since we knew that in the morning wicket would be challenging. We got start but couldn't capitalize. We had made a plan but failed to execute it. From today's game, we need to learn how we can improve in that area. Yeah, it was great exposure for us to get some games against good teams, and we are really looking forward to the last game."
Max ODowd (Player of the Match): "I'm disappointed that I didn't reach the century, but for me, the important thing is to help my team win games. 90 is enough for a good cause. If we look at the last game, we didn't get in our space, so today it was about being positive and taking a spin They were to receive it from it. I didn't want the game to become complicated by allowing the middle order to enter. Scott Edwards should be questioned, not me. I teach him how to sweep with him. My goal is to get my head as close to the queue as possible. Prior to this, Scott spent two months teaching me how to sweep."
6:13 PM IST, 2:43 PM Local | Deepak: A comprehensive victory for Netherlands, and they seal their berth in the Super Sixes along with Zimbabwe and West Indies in group A. On the flip side, with a string of three consecutive losses, Nepal, unfortunately, missed out on advancing to the next stage. Netherlands thumped Nepal by 7 wickets with 137 balls to spare.
Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Nepal were restricted to 167 runs. Nepal played sensible cricket in the first powerplay but lost a flurry of wickets in the middle overs and they had to bear the brunt of it. Skipper Rohit Paudel was the top scorer for Nepal as he added 33 runs, and Lamichhane added some crucial runs in the end to post a respectable total. On the bowling front, Logan van Beek stood out for the Netherlands, showcasing his skill and picking up 4 wickets while conceding only 24 runs in his 9.3 overs.
In pursuit of Nepal’s 167 runs Netherlands played sensibly for the first three overs. Max ODowd and Vikramjit Singh started scoring at a rapid pace from the 4th over and have cleared their intentions. Especially, ODowd was the initial aggressor among them as the right-hander played with authority and went on to complete his half-century in a jiffy. However, Nepali star leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane ceased the opening partnership by trapping Vikramjit for 30 runs. Wesley Barresi, who was trying to be innovative too fell prey to Lamichhane as Dutch lose their second wicket in a quick succession.
ODowd paired up with Bas de Leede and continued his merry ways. The right-hander achieved his highest total in ODI cricket but alas he missed out on a golden opportunity to score his maiden ODI century as he was clean-bowled by Gulshan Jha on 90 runs. Bas de Leede remained unbeaten on 41 runs and helped Duth to seal the deal.
On the bowling front, Sandeep Lamichhane scalped two wickets for Nepal, while Gulshan Jha contributed one wicket.
Stay tuned for the post-match presentation..
