Earlier in the day, Liam Livingstone sent Yorkshire to bat first on this deck. Their openers gave a blistering start. Their intentions were clear as they took on every bowler that came their way. For Lancashire, Colin de Grandhomme came to their rescue. He kept on breaking the partnership. Meanwhile, Malan played a fantastic knock. He kept on pushing the scorecard.
Skipper Shan Masood played a quick cameo with Matthew Revis. Later, Thompson gave the finishing touch to take the score close to 200. From the bowling point of view, all-rounders turned up today. Be it Daryl Mitchell or CDG or Liam Livingstone.
While chasing the target, Jos Buttler lost his wicket early. But in came Steven Croft, who managed to do Buttleresque here. His quick cameo was followed by Luke Wells and Daryl Mitchell's. Unfortunately, they all got out in quick succession. Liam got out in a bizarre manner making the chase tough to get. For Yorkshire, all the bowlers chipped in.
But Hartley came as a surprise package. He started smashing boundaries, keeping Lancashire's hopes alive. But the wicket of Colin de Grandhomme spoiled the party. After that it was a matter of fact, they fell short by 15 runs. Yorkshire's collective bowling effort was their main reason to defend par total at Leeds.
