Ireland W have won the game by 16 runs (DLS METHOD) and have taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the 3 match T20I series. They were on their way towards victory before rain interrupted play at the end of the 5th over.
Earlier in the day, the Irish women won the toss and opted to bowls first on a flat looking surface. Alisa Lister and Sarah Jennifer Bryce walked out to open the batting for the Scottish women and got of to an excellent start but in the 3rd , Ireland W lost their first wicket with some poor running between the wickets.
Abbi Drummond walked out to join Sarah Bryce in the middle, together they took Ireland past the 40 runs mark in the powerplay without losing anymore wickets. Cara Murry was introduced into the attack and she managed to get the breakthrough, by dismissing the well set Sarah Bryce on 17!
Saskia Horley walked out to the middle and she looked quite solid from the get go, but got no support as she kept losing partners at the other end. Horley punished the bad balls and rotated the strike extremely well and managed to take her team to a decent total 126-8 at the end by contributing with a brilliant knock of 44 of 33 balls. it was a below par score against this strong Irish unit.
Scotland lost 4 wickets to run outs, Cara Murray was the pick of the bowlers as she scalped 2 wickets, Arlene Kelly and Laura Delaney picked up a wicket each.
Amy Hunter and Gaby Lewis walked out to open the batting for Ireland W and they very aggressive right from ball one, not allowing the bowling to settle. Gaby played one shot too many and got dismissed by Rachel Slater on the first ball on the 3rd over. Orla Prendergast the player of the match in the first T20I walked out and continued from where she had left off yesterday.
She was severe against anything short and wide, she hit a flurry of boundaries and looked like taking the game away from Scotland W before rain interrupted play and the players had to make their way out off the fielder. Rain had the last laugh and Ireland won the game through DLS method!!
