Ravikumar Samarth: "I think we gave 20 runs extra. Didn't think we bowled well and to our plans but credit to Manish Pandey who played out of his skin. Was important for us to show intent in such a chase. (Reason for holding back Amit Verma and Abhinav Manohar in the batting order) We just thought of taking the game deep. Back Amit and Abhinav to score even 15 runs per over during the end. It was a great game. Seems like the wickets are getting better and full of runs."
Abhinav Manohar, Man of the Match:"I think we planned the chase pretty well but left too much in the end. Could have gone either way. Was lucky and used it my advantage. Feels good to finish off a game like this. Lot of credit to the groundsmen to keep the ground dry. Helps you to read the situation better when you come back after playing at a higher level."
VATSAL: A Terrific chase of 193 by Mangalore United as they beat Gulbarga Mystics in a thrilling encounter at Mysore by 3 wickets.
The Gulbarga Mystics having put in to bat first started off poorly as they lost their in-form openers Padikkal(16) and R Patil (10) followed by J Acharya for 6 as they were struggling at 40 for 3 in the 7th over. KL Shirjith and M Pandey got together and scored 86 for the fourth wicket. Shrijith was dismissed for 36 off 30. M Pandey continued and ended unbeaten at 86 off 45 balls. He was well-supported by Bhandage who scored a quick 29 off 11 to end the Mystics innings at 192 for 6 in their 20 overs of which 82 came in the last 5 overs.
The United bowling was decent upfront with V Vyshak picking up 3-28 in his spell and was supported by HS Sharath who got 2-44 in his 4. The rest of the bowlers did not create an impact for them.
Chasing 193, Mangalore United got off to a poor start losing Samarth for a duck. M Noronha and N Jose were dismissed soon after for 24 and 18 respectively.
A Gautam(30) and S Sateri(29) got a decent partnership in the middle until both of them got out. A Manohar coming late in the order ended with 55* in just 25 balls as he took his team past the winning line. A Verma(15) and HS Sharath(7*) gave key contributions.
S Achar(3-26 of 4) and R Bhatkal(1-21 of 3) were the pick of the bowlers. Kaverappa got a wicket and Karthik CA got 2-33 in 3 overs. The rest of the bowlers were expensive as they could not defend 192 put on by the batters.
A Brilliant win for United has put them on top of the points table.
19.4 V Kaverappa to A Manohar
6 THAT'S IT!! WHAT A FINISH OFF THE MATCH!! Full and in the slot, Abhinav gets a hold of it and clears deep mid-wicket with ease. Mangalore United chase down 192 with two balls to spare. Incredible scenes in Mysore!
2+4 Short delivery, Abhinav tries to pull hard but he inside-edges it to deep backward square-leg. OUCH!!! The batters try to steal a second run as the keeper misses the throw from the deep. V Kaverappa runs forward and attempts a throw to the non-striker's end but he misses by a long way. Worse, the ball goes away from the fielder backing up and reaches the fence. Six runs in total!
19.2 V Kaverappa to H Sharath
1 Short delivery, HS Sharath pulls it to deep mid-wicket for a single
The Reds are turning it on now. Just 11 are needed off the last 5 balls.
