That's it from this game. Do switch tabs as we will have the Sydney Derby for you featuring Thunder and Sixers from the North Sydney Oval soon. Join us there and stay with us for all the other cricketing action across the globe. For now, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentator Ninaad Dixit, alongside scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. Goodbye and CHEERS!
Tess Flintoff is the player of the match.
A much-needed win for the Melbourne Stars Women as they beat the high-flying Adelaide Strikers Women by 22 runs at the North Sydney Oval. They have outplayed their opponents in all facets of the game to garner two crucial points that will take them upward in the points table. This is only their second win in the competition.

Chasing a mammoth 187 for the win, the Strikers lost talismanic player Deandra Dottin early for 3. Katie Mack looked good and fought for the Strikers with her 47 coming off 38 balls. Laura Wolvaardt chipped in with 30 off 24 balls. Bridget Patterson played a blinder towards the end as she made 41 off 23 balls. Madeline Penna chipped in with 22 off 16 balls. They were always behind the run rate and never looked like winning as 186 looked like a bridge too far in the end.

Sasha Moloney was the pick of the bowlers for the Melbourne Stars as she finished with 4/24 in her 4 overs. Kim Garth was economical in her 4 overs for 0/22. A wicket apiece for Annabel Sutherland, Alice Capsey, Tess Flintoff, and Sophie Day. They were great in the outfield and took great catches, unlike their opponents who were shoddy in the field.

Earlier in the game, Melbourne Stars put into bat first and lost Jemimah Rodrigues early for 8. Thereafter, the English combination of Lauren Winfield-Hill and Alice Capsey came together to stitch together an 81-run stand for the second wicket. Alice Capsey scored 49 off 31 balls while Lauren Winfield-Hill scored 47 off 49 balls. They lost wickets in the middle, but it was Tess Flintoff’s belligerent 51* off 16 balls that powered the Stars past the 180-run mark. They ended with 186/5 in 20 overs with the help of 12 extras given by the Strikers bowlers.

Deandra Dottin was the pick of the bowlers for the Adelaide Strikers with her couple of wickets. A wicket apiece for Megan Schutt and Jemma Barsby. The rest of the bowlers went for plenty of runs as the Strikers conceded way too many runs here.  The Strikers were also sloppy in the field and allowed way too many runs here. That proved to be the difference as they went down by 22 runs.

A win for the Stars over the Strikers by 22 runs takes them upwards in the points table. The Strikers despite that loss are well-placed and will look to bounce back in their next game. The Stars needed this to stay in the hunt for the playoffs.

19.5 S Moloney to M Penna
W GONE!! Short of length and wide outside the off stump. Penna widens her stance, gets deep in the crease and pulls away high in the air. The deep midwicket fielder runs forward and dives forward to take a good low catch. Strikers lose another wicket on the penultimate ball of the match.
