So, that is it from myself, Karthik Raj and my co-commentator, Shashank. A word of thanks to our scorer, Ashok too for assisting us in this game. Do join us again tomorrow for the final which will see Coastal Raiders taking on Bezawada Tigers as the two teams look to become the inaugural champions of the Shriram Andhra Premier League!
So, eventually, the rain hasn't relented and the umpires have decided to call off the game. This means that Bezawada Tigers will advance to the final as they finished above Rayalaseema Kings in the group stage. Pretty unlucky for the Kings as they batted superbly to post 186-3 and started very well with the ball too. If one more over was bowled, the Kings would have all but qualified for the final through the VJD method.
Earlier in the evening, the Kings produced a complete batting effort with the likes of Abhishek Reddy, Prasanth Kumar, Shaik Rasheed and Girinath Reddy all contributing to the team's impressive total of 186/3. Girinath also started the defense well by bowling two economical overs while Santosh Kumar dismissed Maheep Kumar to have Bezawada Tigers at 29/1 at the end of four overs.
UPDATE | 9:42 PM IST: The images coming from Vizag looks more bleak, the whole ground has been covered now and we have just over 30 minutes for the game to be officially called-off.
UPDATE | 9:25 PM IST: Looks like the rain has got heavier, the ground-staffs have covered the square too. The Bezawada camp are looking happy with this scene.
UPDATE | 9:10 PM IST: No great news yet, the covers are still on the pitch and it's still raining here, we are hearing that the cut off time is 10:20 PM IST.
Shashank: Rain was the enemy for the Bezawada Tigers yesterday but it might become their best foe today if the match gets abandoned. The intricacy this game of cricket brings is just unimaginable at times. We will bring you further updates, if we have any. Until then enjoy the break.
Shashank: The Rayalaseema Kings players are having a protest with the umpires here, they think the play can go through for an other over to get the VJD method in the game, which can take the Kings through. The umpires are explaining that the water is just too much on the field. If we don't have anymore play here today, then Bezawada Tigers will go through as they finished above Rayalaseema Kings in the group stage.
The umpires have decided that the rain is too heavy but the Rayalaseema Kings' players aren't happy here. They want to stay on!
Karthik: There is a bit of drizzle at the stadium and it is only getting heavier with each second. We need at least five overs to constitute a game!
