That's it then, we have the four semi-finalists! One will be a Trans-Tasman semifinal while the other will be between the finalists of 2017's Women's ODI World Cup!
For now, I am AkshayaKrishna Polya signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ninaad Dixit, who alongside our scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer brought you all the live actions from this fascinating game. Till next time, it's a good night from me!
Opting to bat first, the Kiwi Women's side was under the pump immediately, thanks to Katherine Brunt's special with the new ball. The veteran fast bowler dismissed Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr through beautiful in-swingers.
They didn't recover from here as they lost wickets at clusters handing an easy target for the hosts. Maddy Green (19 off 24) and Hannah Rowe (10 off 18) did get into the double digits but failed to leave any impression. They crawled their way to 71/9 in their allotted 20 overs.
From the bowling point of view, Katherine Brunt (3-1-4-2), Issy Wong (3-0-10-2), and Sarah Glenn (4-0-13-2) were the pick of the bowlers while Sophie Ecclestone scalped a wicket.
Chasing a small target, English Women did lose Danni Wyatt very early in the first over but Sophia Dunkley and Alice Capsey calmed down the situation with a 41-run second wicket stand. Amelia Kerr (4-1-27-2) broke the stand with the wicket of Capsey (23 off 19) and an over later the leg-spinner sent Dunkley (19 0ff 23) back to the pavilion.
Amy Jones (18* off 10) and Natalie Sciver (7* off 15) did the rest as they gave the finishing touches with a few attacking shots. They chased down the target with 50 balls remaining and won the match by seven wickets.
England Women have been super-dopers in recent times in white-ball cricket, dominating each and every side they play against. However, tonight it was the turn of New Zealand Women to be on the receiving end. England has been unbeaten throughout the group stages and will hold the pole position in Group B!
So the semi-finals have been locked! Australia vs New Zealand and England vs India.
