So, that's the end of an entertaining fixture. Joins us back tomorrow, which is a double-header. For now, it's me, Ajay Singh, along with my fellow commentators Anmol Ahuja and Badal Pareek, signing off. Goodnight and goodbye.
Wahab Riaz | Winning Captain:"Yes definetly a good result. As I said in the toss it was a good wicket for the batter and they did a good job. Haris add this moment in the difference at the moment. Ever since he has come in, life has been a lot easy for us. Yes, the 19th over was a very important one and I did well. Overall we have done well, this match will give us a lot of confidence and we will look to build on this performance."
Asif Ali | Losing Captain:"The wicket was good, and we restricted them to a gettable total as well. It witnessed good cricket today. Wahab and Salman were terrific in the death. Also, we lost wickets at the crucial stage. Our top-order gave us a good start, but we could not capitalise on that."
Mohammad Haris | Player of the Match:"Peshawar have given me the freedom to play my game, and I am thankful for that. While I do premeditate at times, I try to assess the bowler and the field on most occasions. When you play with all your heart, the luck favours you, and you achieve success."
Earlier, the Islamabad United got off to a great start on the back of a 19-ball 46 from the Afghan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Following his wicket, the innings was carried by Azam Khan on his shoulders. The big young batter played an entertaining yet responsible knock of 85 runs off 45 balls before eventually getting out in the 19th over, leaving his team with a little too much required for a win. Salman Irshad was the pick of the bowlers for the Zalmis as he returned with figures of 3/29. Skipper Wahab Riaz was also economical and effective, ending his spell with 2/26. The Peshawar Zalmi bag two more crucial points and overtake the Islamabad United to move to 3rd place on the points table.
What a great game of cricket we had tonight! The Islamabad United, especially Azam Khan, look dejected in the dugout, and rightly so. They toiled hard through this chase, only to end up on the losing side. Some brilliant death bowling by Wahab Riaz and Co made sure no big hits were there for Islamabad to benefit from. Just 5 runs in Salman Irshad's 18th over, followed by skipper Wahab Riaz's terrific 3-run penultimate over, ensured the Zalmis bagged a victory as the race to the playoffs gets intense.
