Dasun Shanaka, Winning Skipper: " After yesterday's loss we had to come back stronger. 195 was a good total and we knew we can defend that. Little bit bad executions with the ball and they need to be better from the next game."
Dhananjaya de Silva, Losing Skipper:" The things went wrong in the powerplay for us. Apart from that we played very well. They got 15-20 runs extra which costed us. But we pulled things back nicely at one stage they were looking for 210 plus."
Player of the Match, Phil Salt, 62 off 34 from him: " It is nice to play such innings and to be in winning side. I am feeling nice on my batting now. It's harder to score with the old ball so it was necessary to go brutal early."
So Winning toss to winning the match, most of the things for the Giants went right. Phil Salt started this on slaughter for the Giants by scoring 62(34). They lost wickets in the middle of powerplay but their run rate was always above 10. Then it was the partnership between Shanaka 38(25) and the Afghani player Zadran 54(40) which assured that they got to 195 in the end. At one stage they were up for a 210 plus score but pulled the things back nicely by Stars. Chameera got 3 wickets for the Satrs while other bowlers had not much of impact on this game.
Chasing 196 was always a uphill task for the Stars. There were no significant contribution by Stars batters as they were all-out for 177 in 18.5 overs. Every one in the line up played little cameos which was not enough to hunt the target down. Pradeep got 3 wickets but went for 50 in his four overs. Tahir, Ratnayake and Karunaratne got 2 wickets each. Karunaratne was touch expensive though.
Dambulla giants won by 18 runs in the end getting two wins out of three.
W THATS OUT. Caught by the keeper. This will be it. Giants win this one by 18 runs as Stars go down fighting. This one was pitched outside off, Chameera wanted to drag this on to the leg side. Gets a thick outside edge and it's a good grab by the keeper.
18.5 C Karunaratne to D Chameera
WD Wide again, Chameera looks rattled. Outside the tram line and left alone by Chameera.
