Heather Graham has been adjudged the Player of the Match for her impressive bowling spell
Earlier, the Stars innings was single-handedly driven by Elyse Villani. She scored 84 out of the Stars' total of 122. No other batter from the Stars lineup could cross double figures and extras were the second highest contributor with 14. Villani stamped her authority on the game with some glorious shot making on a pitch which was not easy to bat on, as found out by other batters on either side. Heather Graham was the pick of the bowlers for the Scorchers, claiming match figures of 4-0-16-3.
Phew. We have been treated to a low-scoring humdinger. And Perth Scorchers Women emerge as the winners at the end of it, pushing them to to the top of the league table. Chasing a modest target of 123, Scorchers lost their big guns Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney early in the innings giving Stars a massive lift. The middle order chipped in with useful contributions to not let the situation go out of control. Mathilda Carmichael played an important cameo of 30(20) balls lower down the order to put Scorchers in a winning position. A brilliant penultimate over from Smith, and a wicket off the penultimate ball made things very exciting. And it all came down to Peschel facing the last ball of the innings to get a single, which they somehow managed to scamper through for. A big win for Scorchers in their pursuit of the top spot. They pile on the pressure on the Renegades, who now face a must-win game against Brisbane Heat later today for a direct place in the final

1 Peschel nudges this full length ball towards mid off and sets off for a single. The fielder at short mid-off throws it at the stumps off balanced and it's not an accurate one. Peschel gets through to complete the single. What a finish.
