DG: Well, there was a lot off buzz going round when the Kiwis landed in Pakistan. This tour was 18 years in the making and unfortunately it has to end this way. Questions will be raised on PCB and their security managements. So keep a tab on OneCricket and Cricket Exchange for more news regarding this matter.

Goodbye, take care everyone and we'll be back on Sunday with the coverage of....well... you guessed it right. The Indian Premier League.
Official statement issued by PCB:

"Earlier today, the New Zealand cricket board informed us that they had been alerted to some security alert and have unilaterally decided to postpone the series. PCB and Govt of Pakistan made fool proof security arrangements for all visiting teams. We have assured the New Zealand cricket board of the same.

The Prime Minister spoke personally to the Prime Minister of New Zealand and informed her that we have one of the best Intelligence systems in the world and that no security threat of any kind exists for the visiting team. The security officials with the NZ team have been satisfied with security arrangements made by the Govt of Pakistan throughout their stay here.

PCB is willing to continue the scheduled matches. However, cricket lovers in Pakistan and world over will be disappointed by this last minute withdrawal."

Official statement from New Zealand Cricket:

"The side was to play Pakistan this evening in the first of three ODIs in Rawalpindi, before moving to Lahore for a five match T20 series. However, following an escalation in the New Zealand Government threat levels for Pakistan, and advice from NZC security advisors on the ground, it has been decided the BLACKCAPS will not continue with the tour. Arrangements are now being made for the team's departure."
3:08 PM IST: Alright then, bad news cricket lovers. The entire tour has been called off! due to security reasons!!
3:00 PM IST: The match should have been started by now but both these teams are still in their respective hotels. Various reports are circulating in PAK media that 2-3 Kiwi players have been tested positive and the first match might have to be postponed.
2:37 PM IST: Still no update regarding the start of play. The fans aren't being allow to enter the stadium. We'll keep you updated on this. Hang round everyone..
2:25 PM IST: There's a big update coming up. We are just 5 minutes away from the toss and the players and the support staffs have still not reached the venue. Still don't know the exact reason for it. They have been told to stay inside their hotel rooms. Do stay round for further update on this news.
DG: It has been a topsy-turvy month for Pakistan cricket. Ramiz Raza was appointed as the new PCB Chairman and the duo of Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis resigned as coaches of the Pakistan side. There’s a lot of tension going on within the Pakistani camp and the team management will be hoping that it doesn’t affect their performance against an inexperienced, but motivated New Zealand side.

The series carries a lot of significance for Babar Azam and co. They were battered by a depleted England side in July and now the pressure will be on Pakistan to prove their mettle against the Kiwis. Speaking of the visitors, they have fresh faces in their arsenal and it is a great opportunity for the youngsters to cement their permanent place in the national side. The Kiwis have played just seven ODI matches post the World Cup in 2019 and as a result will have to adjust quickly to the conditions that lie ahead of them.

Can the BlackCaps nail a crucial knockout blow in the first ODI? We’ll find out. Toss and team updates to come up shortly.

DG: This was 18 years in the making!! After 2003, this is the first time that the BlackCaps have travelled to Pakistan for any form of cricketing tour. Honestly, all eyes will be on IPL and rightly so. The series holds no meaning in context of the World Cup qualifications and as a result the ODI series will stand alone as three 50-over games where the outcome will only test the strength and weakness of both the teams.

New Zealand might be missing their key stars in the series, but never-ever underestimate the Kiwis. They have more than enough in their tank to give a tough challenge to the hosts. The visitors were also dealt a big blow with Tom Blundell ruled out of the series because of a quad strain. He will be replaced by all-rounder Daryl Mitchell who will be able to join the squad once he completes his quarantine period.
2:10 PM IST: Hello and a warm welcome to the coverage of the first ODI match between the hosts, Pakistan and the visitors, New Zealand from the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. This is Anurag Dasgupta and I’ll be shortly joined by Anurag Singh and Arijit Kundu as we bring you all the live updates from this encounter.

And the moment has finally arrived!! An inexperienced New Zealand side have a daunting task on their hands as they are set to clash against Pakistan in the first of the 3-match ODI series, beginning in Rawalpindi. It is a historic series as for the first time in 18 years, the Kiwis will travel to Pakistan for any form of cricketing tour and the hosts will be pretty confident of performing well against a depleted New Zealand side who are missing quite a few players from their ranks.

This New Zealand side, led by Tom Latham exceeded expectations against Bangladesh in the recently concluded T20I series and will look to jolt the home side with their spirited performance. This Babar Azam led Pakistan team have had their own off-field issues to deal with and the team management will be hoping that the side can shake up their mind to focus on the tough challenge that lies ahead in the form of the BlackCaps. Can the Kiwis nail the first blow? We’ll find out soon. So do join us for the coverage of this game, sharp at 2:15 PM IST.
