Milestone
Finally, finally, finally! Mumbai Indians have broken the opening-game jinx, winning their opening game of the season for the first time since 2012. A dominant all-round performance from the five-time champions, who made the most of the opportunity against a depleted KKR side that has plenty to reassess going forward.

Yesterday belonged to Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkaltonight it was all about Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton, who powered MI to a commanding win. Interestingly, both matches so far have been won by teams chasing.

Up next, we move to Guwahati as Rajasthan Royals take on Chennai Super Kings. For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Ajay Pal Singh & AkshayaKrishna Polya who, along with scorers/analysts Manish Bishnoi & Paras Yadav and statistician Aman brought all the updates of this clash. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. BYE BYE👋

Shardul Thakur (POTM): [What keeps him going on good batting tracks] I think I have said this before also. This was a challenging situation I had to bowl in. Coming in and bowling that 6th over is a challenge. Challenges are what have made me what I am today and I gues today was just one of those performances.

[On playing at home (Wankhede)] This ground has given me bitter and sweet memories. Playing here at this venue. I was a net bowler in the 2012 season. It has finally happened that I am playing for Mumbai Indians now.

[On Hardik telling him to retire at MI] I would be very happy if I stay here. It is my home city. The kind of backing that I had coming here was amazing. Thanks to the entire MI family for trading me from LSG and straightaway getting me in the XI.

[On Lord's meme] Yeah, for sure they will come. I don't mind them, it is a name given by people. I feel happy because that's how they show love to me. Coming here, playing those tough games, a lot of criticism comes our way. When you perform, people show love, and it is their way of showing love to me."
Player of the Match: Shardul Thakur
Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians Captain): "(Feeling about winning their first game after 13 years in the IPL) Obviously, it has been a very long waiting. It has been 13 years long time. And, you know, every time we have come, we have wanted to win and start the season on a high. Very glad, the whole group is very glad that we were finally able to do it.

(Thoughts about chasing 220) Yes, I feel modern cricket, plus at the same point of time, we have seen what this wicket plays like. The kind of powerplay they had, we knew that the wicket was good. So, as a bowling group, a lot of credit goes to the bowlers. They pulled it really back, not letting them fly with 250s, 240s, because I feel in T20 cricket, those are difficult to chase. But 220 is always gettable if you have a good start. And I think the top two batters, Ro (Rohit) and Rickelton, were outstanding. The way Ro (Rohit) played some outstanding shots. And at the same point of time, Rickelton was brilliant. And to see that, very nice.

(On having to opt between Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton) Absolutely! Ryan (Rickelton) has done really well for this franchise. Even last year, he's been fantastic. Quinny is a top man, he understood, he knew we are backing the player with the continuity and at the same point of time, so well he did. So, yes, very glad that it paid off right.

(On Rohit Sharma's batting) It's a treat. I've seen batters play some terrific shots. But whenever I've seen Ro play some shots, I think it opens everyone's mouth. So, nothing short of exceptional, nothing short of brilliant. And I'm so, so happy that Ro played his knock with Ryan.

(About Shardul Thakur) I told him this season, I said, enough hopping of the franchises. I want you to be here for the rest of your career.' He's a character. He has a big heart. The way he comes out and kind of always tries to outsmart a batter is simply brilliant, and really, really happy for him."
