In match number nine of the ongoing edition of the Legends League Cricket, Mumbai Spartans will take on Royal Riders Punjab at the Indira Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Thursday (March 19).
The Spartans are third on the table with one win and one defeat so far, while Royal Riders Punjab are placed fourth with one win and two losses to their name.
Mumbai Spartans registered a 17-run win over India Tigers in their last outing. Batting first, they posted 160 for eight in 20 overs, courtesy of a whirlwind 42 off 22 balls from Bharat Chipli.
Asad Pathan made 25, while Mausif Khan (18), Rahul Yadav (18) and Shoaib Khan (17) chipped in with useful contributions.
With the ball, captain S Sreesanth led from the front with figures of two for 23. Amit Verma picked up two for 29, while Subodh Bhati and Manan Sharma chipped in with a wicket each to restrict the Tigers to 143 for six.
Meanwhile, Royal Riders Punjab are coming into this contest after a defeat against Southern Super Stars.
After being asked to bowl first in their previous game, they conceded 179 for seven in 20 overs. Anureet Singh was the pick of the bowlers with two for 33, while Rishi Dhawan, Chaturanga de Silva, Angelo Perera and Thisara Perera picked up a wicket each.
With the bat, Mohammad Shahzad scored 44 off 42 balls and added 40 runs for the opening wicket with Phil Mustard (19).
However, the middle order failed to build on the start. Thisara Perera made 28 off 23, while Rishi Dhawan scored 17 off 14. None of the other batters reached double figures as Royal Riders Punjab were restricted to 139 for eight in 20 overs.
