That’s all from the opening game of the Pakistan National T20 2026, folks! Lahore Region Whites start their campaign on a high note, winning by 6 wickets and 18 balls to spare. For now, it’s me, Deepak Prakash, signing off on behalf of co-commentator, Saptak Sanyal, and scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. CHEERS!
Aamir Jamal (Lahore Region Whites Captain): "Yes the way Peshawar started batting they were cruising at above 10 per over. We bowled well including myself, Naseem, Ubaid in the last six overs and restricted them to 15-20 runs short.

(Was it a good toss to lose?) I did not think like that. Whenever there's a meeting or a huddle, I speak about keeping the attitude positive. Toss is something we can't control and we should not really think about it.

(Plan to bowl in the death overs?) In the last overs, the talk was to go ball by ball. Nawaz bhai, Ifti bhai both like pace. We did not bowl anything pace on and focused on variations.

(On Farhan Yousaf) As a captain I back him. It is a proud moment for him to take Usman Tariq on. Our plan was to play run-a-ball to Usman Tariq but the way he took him on was a great thing."
Iftikhar Ahmed (Peshawar Region Captain): "The runs fell a little short. We started well with the opening batting, but then we slowed down a bit. In T20 cricket, you cannot afford to lose momentum, and that’s why our score ended up being lower.

(On his batting order) My plan was that if a partnership developed, I would accelerate later and try to finish strongly. However, in my opinion, the credit goes to Naseem, who bowled really well.

(On motivating the team after this loss) Look, we are all professionals, and we will try our best to win the next two matches and qualify for the semifinals."
Farhan Yousaf (Player of the Match): "(How does it feel?) It is a proud moment for me to play such an innings for my team.

(What was the mindset when you went to bat?) Mindset was to take the responsibility. The staff and Naseem bhai said that in the team meeting. (How you took on Usman Tariq?) I saw his bowling in the past and saw a lot of videos of him. In T20 cricket, you have to show the intent everytime.

Time for the post-match presentation.
8:37 PM IST, 8:07 PM Local Time: A comfortable victory for Lahore Region Whites, as they win the opening game of the tournament by 6 wickets with 18 balls to spare.

Earlier, Peshawar Region finished with 167/9 in their 20 overs after a strong late comeback from Lahore Whites, who claimed six wickets in the final five overs while conceding just 32 runs. Peshawar got off to a solid start as Abuzar Tariq and Yasir Khan added 44 runs for the opening wicket, with Tariq scoring 26 before falling to Aamir Jamal.

Yasir Khan then led the charge with an impressive 65 off 37 balls, striking four boundaries and five sixes, while Waqar Ahmed supported him with 28 during a 56-run partnership. However, after their dismissals, Peshawar suffered a collapse with several middle and lower-order batters failing to make an impact. Nabi Gul’s quick 16 off 8 balls provided some late momentum. Aamir Jamal starred with the ball for Lahore Whites, taking 3/40, while Mohammad Rameez picked up two wickets.

In reply, Lahore Region Whites chased down the target comfortably, winning by 6 wickets with 18 balls to spare. The innings was anchored by Farhan Yousaf, who played a match-winning knock of 61* off 31 balls, striking five fours and four sixes. Earlier, Mohammad Akhlaq provided a solid start with 58 off 46 balls, including eight boundaries and a six.

However, Lahore suffered a brief wobble after losing Mohammad Faiq (0) and Imran Dogar (1) early, followed by Tayyab Tahir (17). Despite the setbacks, Farhan Yousaf took control of the chase and, along with Mohammad Mohsin (17*), guided the team home comfortably.

For the Peshawar Region, Mohammad Nawaz was the pick of the bowlers with 2/40, while Usman Tariq and Mohammad Imran Jnr chipped in with a wicket each.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.....
