Player Bio

Born in Adelaide, South Australia, Xavier Bartlett is a burly right-arm fast bowler known for his strong physique, which enables him to bowl extremely fast. He represented Australia’s U-19 team during the Junior World Cup in 2018, where the young pacer played a pivotal role for the team.

Born and raised in Adelaide, Bartlett emerged from the Gold Coast District Cricket Club before representing Queensland Under-19s. He played an important role for the Queensland U19 team during the 2016-17 season. The following season, the strong pacer donned the Australian jersey in the U19 World Cup to play a couple of games in the tournament.

The young pacer caught everyone’s attention in Australia and soon was given the chance to make his List-A debut. Bartlett made his List-A debut for the Cricket Australia XI against India A, against the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Sanju Samson, and Hardik Pandya.

Xavier Bartlett International Career

After standout performances in domestic and List A cricket, Xavier Bartlett earned his maiden ODI cap on February 2, 2024, against the West Indies. Coming in as an injury replacement for Jhye Richardson, recorded figures of 4/17, which earned him the Player of the Match.

At the time of his debut, these were the second-best bowling figures recorded for an Australian debutant in ODIs. After resting for the second match in the series, he returned in the third match, taking 4/21. This performance saw him pick up his second player of the match, and eventually earned him the player of the series.

During the same series, Bartlett made his T20I debut in February 2024 in the third match of the series against the West Indies at Perth Stadium, again coming as a replacement for the another prominent pacer, Josh Hazlewood. Bartlett picked up two wickets in the match.

Xavier Bartlett BBL Career

At 21, Xavier Bartlett was signed by the Brisbane Heat as a replacement player for injured Luke Feldman during BBL|06. While not required to play that season, the old Gold Coast product made his BBL debut during 2020-21 and later played 16 T20 games, taking 12 wickets at a strike rate of 20.50.

In terms of wickets, the Adelaide-born had his best during the BBL 2023/24, where he bagged 20 wickets in 11 games, helping the Heat win a title after 10 long years.

No doubt that Bartlett has a bright future ahead of him, and he would be willing to stamp his authority whenever, wherever he gets the opportunity.
