One of the most promising leg-spinners, Abtaha Maqsood is a professional cricketer for the Scotland women’s team. Born in Glasgow, she joined her local cricket club, Poloc, at the tender age of 11.
Abtaha was called up to train with the Scotland Women’s Under 17s team. She debuted against Ireland for the Under 17s at the age of 12 where she bowled in a T20 match and took her first wicket for the Under 17s.
At the age of 18, Abtaha made her senior debut for the Scotland women’s team on July, 7th 2018 against Uganda. She was relentless on her debut picking three wickets in just 3 overs.
Dropped from the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup squad, her latest appearance was in the Governor General’s XI to play for the team in an exhibition match on January 28th, 2020 against India.
