Player Bio

From a very young age, Tristan Stubbs has been touted as a generational talent in South Africa. He is known for his stylish batting and the ability to punish both spin and pace bowling.

With consistent domestic performances, Stubbs was asked to make his international debut against India in 2022. Soon, the right-handed dasher cemented his place as an all-format player.

Stubbs remains a vital asset for both the South African national team and the Delhi Capitals, known for his powerful hitting, versatility, and ability to perform under pressure.

Tristan Stubbs International Career

After a career-defining year in domestic cricket, where he was terrific in the List A and T20 formats for the Warriors team, Tristan Stubbs received an international call-up in March 2023. Making his ODI debut against the West Indies, the youngster was added to South Africa’s T20 World Cup squad for 2022-23.

He also earned a spot in South Africa’s squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, contributing significantly to the team’s journey to the final.

Stubbs’ maiden ODI century came on October 4, 2024, against Ireland, scoring an unbeaten 112 off 81 balls in Abu Dhabi. He was later added to South Africa’s squad for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which went on to play the semi-final.

He made his Test debut for South Africa against India on January 3, 2024, in Cape Town. However, in a challenging start to his red-ball career, he became the first player in 127 years to be dismissed twice on the first day of his debut.

Later in the year, he scored his maiden Test century on October 29, 2024, scoring 106 off 198 balls on Day 1 of the second Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram.

Tristan Stubbs IPL Career

In the first week of May 2022, Tristan Stubbs joined the Mumbai Indians squad as a replacement for Tymal Mills in the Indian Premier League.

Over the next two seasons, his IPL journey saw significant developments. In the 2024 IPL season, playing for the Delhi Capitals, Stubbs scored 378 runs in 13 innings at an impressive strike rate of over 190.

In IPL 2025, Tristan Stubbs played a crucial role in the Delhi Capitals' thrilling Super Over win against the Rajasthan Royals. He first helped Delhi post 188/5 with his swashbuckling 14-ball 34, and then hit the winning six in the Super Over to seal the deal.

Recognising his value, the Delhi Capitals retained him for the 2026 season with a substantial INR 10 crore contract.
