Player Bio

The capability to hit sixes from the word go without taking time to settle has been Rishabh Pant’s success mantra and USP in the game of cricket. Known for his "never-give-up" attitude and audacious stroke play, the Roorkee-born talent has evolved from a teenage prodigy into one of India’s most dependable match-winners.

His ability to blend raw power with resilience has made him a global icon, frequently drawing comparisons to legends while carving out a unique legacy as a modern-day redemption king.

Rishabh Pant Domestic Career

Rishabh Pant’s rise began in the domestic circuit, where he represented Delhi with a fearless approach that bordered on the revolutionary. He shot to fame during the 2016 ICC U19 World Cup, where his aggressive style made him the centrepiece of India’s campaign.

Later that year, young Pant drew attention with a triple century against Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy. Pant's knock of 308 came in just 326 deliveries as Delhi scored 590 in reply to Maharashtra's humongous total of 635/2.

His domestic exploits further included a record-breaking 48-ball century in the Ranji Trophy, forcing national selectors to view him as the natural successor to MS Dhoni.

Rishabh Pant T20I Career

Rishabh Pant made his T20I debut on February 1, 2017, against England, at the age of 19, the then-youngest T20I debutant for India.

Despite his immense talent, he often faced criticism for "throwing his wicket away." However, he silenced doubters by playing a pivotal role in India’s triumphant 2024 T20 World Cup campaign, delivering several impactful performances that helped India clinch the title.

Rishabh Pant Test Career

Rishabh Pant made his Test debut for India on August 18, 2018, against England at Trent Bridge in the third Test of the series. The longest format of cricket is where Pant has touched the greatest heights, becoming arguably India’s most impactful wicketkeeper-batter in history.

He famously got off the mark in Test cricket with a six and is the only Indian keeper to score centuries in England, Australia, and South Africa.

His 2021 heroics at the Gabba remain a hallmark of his career, cementing his status as a red-ball legend. Aged 23, with only 15 Tests under his belt, Rishabh Pant rose to the ranks as the ‘senior’ member of the lower order.

Pant played a historic, unbeaten 89 off 138 balls on the final day at the Gabba in January 2021, leading India to a 3-wicket victory and a 2-1 series win. His counter-attacking knock, featuring nine boundaries and a six, successfully chased a 328-run target, breaking Australia's 32-year unbeaten streak at the venue.

In 2025, he was named vice-captain of the Test side for the England tour, where he hit twin centuries at Headingley and played a legendary innings with a fractured toe to secure a series result.

Rishabh Pant ODI Career

The Delhi-born Rishabh Pant made his ODI debut for India against the West Indies on October 21, 2018, in Guwahati. In the 50-over format, Pant has displayed a blend of aggression and tactical maturity. He famously took up the high-pressure number four spot during the 2019 World Cup.

His ODI career reached a peak in July 2022 when he smashed his maiden hundred in a series-decider against England. He was also part of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy-winning squad, though he didn't feature in the starting XI in that tournament.

Rishabh Pant IPL Career

Rishabh Pant’s IPL journey is historic. His ability to dominate the power play and finish games makes him the most sought-after asset in the league.

Starting with the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) for INR 1.9 crore in 2016, he became the face of the franchise, scoring 684 runs in a breakthrough 2018 season. He was appointed captain of DC in 2021, leading them to the top of the table.

In November 2024, he made history by becoming the most expensive player in IPL history, acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a staggering INR 27 crore becoming the most expensive player in IPL history.

Rishabh Pant Car Accident

In December 2022, Rishabh Pant’s life and career were nearly cut short by a horrific, near-fatal car accident. The crash forced him to undergo multiple surgeries and a gruelling 14-month rehabilitation process that many feared he would not return from. However, his comeback in IPL 2024 was described as a "phoenix rising from the ashes."

His journey from a hospital bed back to the summit of international cricket, culminating in World Cup glory and record-breaking auction prices, is considered one of the greatest tales of grit and redemption in sporting history.
