Prashant Veer has quickly gone from being a relatively unknown domestic cricketer to one of the most talked-about young names in Indian cricket. A left-handed batting all-rounder who bowls left-arm orthodox spin, Prashant Veer grabbed global attention after becoming one of the most expensive uncapped players in IPL history. Prashant Veer’s journey is rooted in resilience, shaped in the small village of Gujipur in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. He grew up in a modest household where financial stability was always uncertain. 

Prashant’s early cricketing expenses were supported by his grandfather’s pension. The turning point came in 2020 when his grandfather passed away, leaving the family without its primary financial backing. 

At just 15, Prashant Veer found himself on the verge of quitting cricket altogether. It was during this difficult phase that his childhood coach, Rajiv Goel, stepped in and ensured he could continue training by supporting his basic expenses.

His early years were marked by sacrifice and persistence. While training in Saharanpur, he shared a modest lifestyle with teammate Rakshit Garg. The two would cycle to practice every day, often taking turns to save money.

Prashant Veer’s Domestic Career

Prashant Veer’s domestic journey has been anything but straightforward. It is a story of constant movement, adaptation, and determination to break through in a highly competitive system.

He began playing cricket with tennis balls in Amethi before moving to the Uttar Pradesh Government Sports Hostel in Mainpuri during his school years. Seeking better opportunities and coaching, he later shifted to Saharanpur to train. Despite impressing in trials, he initially missed out on selection for the Uttar Pradesh Under-16 side, a setback that briefly prompted him to explore opportunities in cities such as Jalandhar and Chandigarh.

However, Prashant Veer returned stronger and made his mark in age-group cricket. His breakthrough came in the 2022–23 Cooch Behar Trophy, where he emerged as Uttar Pradesh’s leading run-scorer. 

His breakthrough came in the 2025 UP T20 League, where he delivered an outstanding all-round performance, scoring 320 runs and taking 8 wickets. 

Prashant Veer’s IPL Career

Prashant Veer’s IPL journey is nothing short of remarkable.

At the IPL 2026 auction, he became one of the most expensive uncapped players in the history of the league when Chennai Super Kings secured him for INR 14.20 crore after an intense bidding war. This massive investment highlighted the franchise’s belief in his all-round abilities.

He made his IPL debut for Chennai Super Kings on April 3, 2026, against Punjab Kings.
