Player Bio

Prabhsimran Singh, also known as Simran Singh, is a Patiala-based wicket-keeper batsman who caught the public eye for his huge price tag in auctions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2019 when he was bought by the King XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings) for a whopping amount of INR 4.8 crores.

Prabhsimran started playing cricket when he was just eight years old. Brother of a fellow Ranji player, Anmolpreet Singh, Prabhsimran scored a boatload of runs in every domain.

With a short stature, he might look like a busy kind of cricketer, but his power-hitting talent is extraordinary. He is best known for his ‘stand and deliver’ shots.

Prabhsimran Singh IPL Career

The dream of playing in the IPL came true in 2019 when Prabhsimran Singh was bought for INR 4.8 crores, up from a base price of 20 lakhs, making him an overnight sensation. Prabhsimran played only two matches for the Punjab Kings but improved his wicket-keeping under the guidance of Andy Flower and Jonty Rhodes.

The biggest moment in his life was when the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, praised the youngster’s bat swing back in 2020.

Another major breakthrough came in 2023, when he became a regular fixture at the top, playing every game for the franchise. Recognising his potential, Punjab Kings retained him ahead of the 2025 mega-auction, a decision he justified with his most productive season yet.

Prabhsimran amassed 549 runs, his first 500-plus campaign, striking at an impressive 160.62 and providing consistent starts. An aggressive opener who looks to dominate the powerplay, he will once again be central to Punjab’s plans in IPL 2026, forming a dynamic opening partnership with Priyansh Arya.
