Player Bio

In one corner of his home in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, Dhruv Jurel has mounted a glass cabinet on the wall to display his trophies and medals. Each of those shiny ornaments is a testament to Jurel’s cricketing journey and boasts a story behind it.

Right-handed wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel is an Indian cricketer who has grown leaps and bounds playing for Uttar Pradesh in India's domestic circuit.

Dhruv Jurel Family Background

Son of a Kargil war veteran, as a kid, Dhruv Jurel, too, wanted to join the army before falling in love with cricket. His father was against him playing the sport, so Jurel kept it a secret from him. One day, his father was reading the newspaper and told him, "There is a cricketer by the same name as you, and he has scored these many runs." Scared, Jurel said nothing.

Jurel was born in a lower-middle-class family. His mother had to sell her gold chain to buy him his first cricket kit, but things soon took a turn for the better.

Dhruv Jurel Domestic Career

Dhruv Jurel started his cricketing journey during a summer camp at his school, which sparked his interest in the game. He then left his home in Agra and went to train at a cricket academy in Noida, on the outskirts of Delhi. He played youth cricket for Uttar Pradesh's U-14, U-16 and U-19 teams.

Jurel made his T20 debut on 10 January 2021 for Uttar Pradesh in the 2020–21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Prior to this, he was named as the vice-captain of India's squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

He made his List A debut on 14 July 2023 for India A against the United Arab Emirates A in the 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. In August 2025, Dhruv was named captain of the Central Zone cricket team for the 2025–26 Duleep Trophy.

Dhruv Jurel IPL Career

Dhruv Jurel got his first experience of the IPL after he was signed by Rajasthan Royals at the mega auction ahead of IPL 2022. He was retained by RR ahead of the 2023 season, and he repaid the franchise's trust with impactful performances and an excellent strike-rate of 172.72.

The stylish keeper-batter was one of five players retained by RR ahead of IPL 2025, for a whopping INR 14 Crore, which shows the trust and respect he has earned as he now forms a core group for the franchise. Rajasthan will rely on his useful and impactful performances in IPL 2026 as they search for their second IPL title.

Dhruv Jurel International Career

In February 2024, Dhruv Jurel was picked for the Test squad and got his chance to debut in Rajkot in place of a faltering KS Bharat.

He scored a crucial 90 in just his second Test as India registered a hard-fought series win against England. In the same match, Jurel was awarded as player of the match for his crucial knocks in both the innings, which helped India to register victory over England in the match, taking an unassailable lead of 3–1 in the 5 match series.

Jurel celebrated his maiden Test century against the West Indies in October 2025 with a distinctive military-style guard-of-honour march and salute. He dedicated this performance to the Indian Army, noting his father is a Kargil war veteran.

Dhruv Jurel made his T20I debut for India on July 6, 2024, against Zimbabwe in Harare. The wicketkeeper-batter was part of the young Indian side that played immediately following the T20 World Cup 2024, receiving his cap alongside Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag.
