Player Bio

Hogging the limelight as a teenager when he bagged a fifer in his first-class debut, Cameron Green is one of the finest young fast bowlers in Australia. Making his first-class debut at the tender age of 17, Green became the youngest bowler to bag a five-wicket haul in the Sheffield Shield. He impressed everyone with his raw pace and his ability to move the ball both ways.

A towering all-rounder (6'6"), Green has become a crucial player for Australia across formats. Known for his elegant style of batting and seam bowling, He was an instrumental player in Australia's 2023 ODI World Cup win. In December 2025, he secured a record IPL contract with the Kolkata Knight Riders for a massive INR 25.20 crore (approx. USD 2.8 million), making him the most expensive overseas player in IPL history and the third-costliest overall.

Cameron Green’s Struggle with Chronic Kidney Disease

It is worth mentioning that Cameron Green was born with an irreversible stage two chronic kidney disease (CKD), a condition initially diagnosed via fetal ultrasound, with doctors warning he might not live past age 12.

To stay at the best of his health and play at the highest levels, Green strictly manages his diet, reducing his protein and salt intake to prevent the condition from worsening. Speaking about the disease, he has stated, "There's no cure... your kidneys can never improve, can never heal themselves".

Cameron Green’s Domestic Career

Cameron Green represents Western Australia in Australia’s domestic circuit and made his first-class debut during the 2016–17 Sheffield Shield season. He made an immediate impact, taking 5/24 on debut, becoming the youngest player in Shield history to claim a five-wicket haul.

Originally a bowling all-rounder, Green shifted focus toward batting following a series of injuries. This transformation paid rich dividends during the 2019–20 Sheffield Shield, where he produced breakthrough performances, including unbeaten scores of 87* and 121* against Queensland.

In March 2021, Green recorded his highest domestic achievement with the bat, scoring a monumental 251 against Queensland in the Sheffield Shield, firmly establishing himself as a genuine batting all-rounder.

In T20 cricket, Green represented the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League between 2018 and 2020, gaining valuable experience in the shortest format before transitioning more prominently into international and franchise cricket.

On December 11, 2020, during a day-night warm-up match between Australia A and India in Sydney, Green was struck on the head by a powerful straight drive from Jasprit Bumrah. The all-rounder suffered a concussion from the blow and was subsequently ruled out of the remainder of the game, replaced by Patrick Rowe.
