Player Bio

Arguably one of the most prolific all-rounders in UAE, Ahmed Raza is a professional Emirati cricketer who acquired the captaincy role after the retirement of Rohan Mustafa in 2019. A country that failed to produce homegrown talent, Raza is a rare talent who came through the UAE’s U-19 program to make his debut for the senior side of UAE in 2006 at the tender age of 17.

A prominent left-arm spinner, Raza is one of the leading wicket-takers across all formats and has also produced notable match-winning performances with the bat in hand, including an ODI half-century. With UAE getting ODI status in 2014, the 32-year old made his ODI debut against Scotland on February 1st, 2014.

In December 2020, Raza was one of the ten cricketers to be awarded a central contract from the UAE. The same year he was drafted in by the Royal Challengers Banglore(RCB) as a net-bowler prior to the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League(IPL). Having been selected to represent UAE in the upcoming T20 World Cup, the Sharjah-born all-rounder would be hoping to make a name for his country at the coveted ICC tournament.
