Piumi Wathsala Dore Mure Badalge, more commonly known as Piumi Badalge, is a right-handed batting all-rounder who has worked her way through Sri Lanka’s domestic system into the national side. Born on November 9, 1995, she has held balanced leadership roles in club cricket, consistently delivering performances that eventually earned her a senior call-up.

Badalge first came into wider recognition in 2019 when she represented Dambulla in the Women’s Super Provincial T20. She later captained Panadura Sports Club in domestic competitions and underlined her batting potential with a brilliant century (119 off 102 balls) against Burgher Recreation Club in 2023. That same year, she was included in the Sri Lanka Cricket Board XI for a warm-up clash against Bangladesh, a sign that she was on the selectors’ radar.

Her opportunity at the highest level arrived in April 2025, when she was picked for the ODI Tri-Nation Series against India and South Africa. Making her debut on 27 April against India, she featured in two matches during the competition. Though her early returns — 11 runs across two ODIs and a handful of overs without a wicket — were modest, her all-round skills and prior domestic record mark her as a player capable of growing into her role.

At 29, Badalge brings both maturity and experience to a young Sri Lankan setup. While still at the start of her international journey, she remains a promising option in the middle order and a useful seam-bowling option who could add balance to the side in the years ahead.
