A wicket-taking leg-break bowler, Adil Rashid has established himself as an integral part of the current English limited-overs set-up and came in handy during England’s triumphant World Cup campaign in 2019. Rashid’s career hasn’t really taken off, especially given the fact that he made his ODI and T20I debut for England way back in 2009. He made a return to international cricket only after a gap of six years, but he has been an asset in the limited-over squads since then.
Rashid played a crucial part in England's redemption after the 2015 World Cup debacle and was instrumental in England achieving triumph in the 50-over format. In the lead-up to the World Cup, Rashid bowled with guile and confidence and had an impressive time in the World Cup. Despite not picking enough wickets, he controlled the game in the middle overs, which helped England in the long run.
In May 2020, Adil Rashid was named among a 55-player training group as England began preparations for the resumption of international cricket following the COVID-19 pandemic. Shortly after, he was included in the 24-man squad training in isolation for the upcoming ODI series against Ireland. On 27 July, Rashid officially made it into England’s squad for the series. During the second ODI against Ireland, he created history by becoming the first English spinner to reach 150 wickets in One Day Internationals.... continue reading

During the second ODI against Ireland, he created history by becoming the first English spinner to reach 150 wickets in One Day Internationals.

He was a key part of England’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, announced in September 2021.

In the 2022 season of The Hundred, Rashid was picked up by the Northern Superchargers, bringing experience and consistency to the team’s bowling attack.

He was a key member of the England squads that lifted the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup, contributing to two of the nation’s most historic triumphs in white-ball cricket.

Recognising his contributions to the sport, Rashid was honoured with the title of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2023 Birthday Honours list.

In May 2024, Rashid was once again included in England's squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. He also featured in England’s squad for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which was jointly held in Pakistan and the UAE.

Despite the English ODI and T20I teams being in the transition, Rashid is regarded as their main weapon in the bowling department.
