It was in that tournament that the right-arm leg-break bowler crossed paths with Australian legend Michael Clarke who got impressed with his variations and invited the young spinner to Australia to play in the Australian domestic summer.
He was drafted in the Nepal squad for the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, where he finished with 14 wickets in 6 games and was the leading wicket-taker for Nepal in the tournament.
However, Lamichhaneās biggest achievement came in the 2018 Indian Premier League auction, when he was fetched by the Delhi Capitals for INR 20 lakh. He justified his selection with an outstanding display of spin bowling in the 2018 WCL Division Two tournament in Namibia, scalping 17 wickets and tormented the opposition with his bowling.
He played for the Delhi Capitals in the 2018 and 2019 seasons and took 5 and 8 wickets respectively in the two editions.
In 2018, he was signed by the Melbourne Stars for the Big Bash League season and became the first player from Nepal to play in the BBL.
In 2021, Lamichhane was drafted in by the Oval Invincibles to play in the inaugural edition of the Hundreds.
Touted as the future of Nepal cricket, Lamichhane has been an excellent ambassador of the game for his nation. At such a young age the spinner has achieved a lot and will look to perform well ahead of the jam-packed T20 scheduled.
