Player Bio

Tinotenda Maposa represents the new generation of Zimbabwean cricketers striving to make their mark on the international stage. Born in Bulawayo, the right-arm medium pacer and a useful lower-order batter has quickly established himself as one of the most promising young talents in the country’s domestic circuit.

Maposa rose through the junior ranks before breaking into the Matabeleland Tuskers setup during the 2022–23 season. His performances in the Logan Cup drew attention, as he displayed an ability to generate movement and extract bounce from placid surfaces—traits that have become increasingly valuable in Zimbabwe’s conditions. In his early first-class appearances, he picked up crucial wickets and showed composure beyond his years. His List A debut came in November 2024 for Mashonaland Eagles.

In a first-class game, while playing for Zimbabwe A against the Marleybone Cricket Club in Harare in October 2025, Maposa picked up a five-wicket haul.

The 2003-born cricketer made his international debut in a T20I against Pakistan in his hometown, Bulawayo, in December 2024. The debutant had a wonderful game and scored an unbeaten 12 runs off 4 balls to help his side win the game by two wickets with one ball remaining.

Later that month, he even made his ODI debut against Afghanistan. However, it was in October 2025 when the bowling all-rounder made his Test debut against Afghanistan at the famous Harare Sports Club.

After coming late in the batting order and scoring 32 off 15 balls in a T20I against Afghanistan in October 2025, Maposa candidly said, "People usually doubt my batting abilities, but I think I also doubt myself sometimes."

While primarily known for his bowling, Maposa is a handy lower-order batter capable of contributing valuable runs when needed. Still in the early phase of his professional journey, Maposa is seen as a long-term investment for Zimbabwe cricket. Coaches and selectors regard him as a hardworking, disciplined cricketer with a sound understanding of his craft.
