Player Bio

Set to feature in her maiden World Cup in 2025, Rubya Haider Jhilik is one of the fresh faces in Bangladesh’s women’s team. A left-handed batter and wicketkeeper, she brings versatility to the side and has shown resilience in her short international journey so far.

Born on July 22, 1997, Rubya’s chance at the top level came in April 2023, when she was called up for the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. She made her T20I debut on May 9 that year, taking her first steps in international cricket. Soon after, she was part of the Bangladesh A squad for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup, where the side finished runners-up.

Her progress hit a brief pause due to a knee injury that kept her out of the India series later in 2023. But she returned strongly the following year, earning a recall to face India in April 2024, a sign of the team management’s faith in her abilities.

What makes Rubya stand out is her ability to adapt to various situations. Whether with the bat in hand or behind the stumps, she adds balance to the squad. Although still relatively new at the highest level, her steady rise through the ranks and inclusion in the World Cup squad underscore the potential she possesses.

For Bangladesh, Rubya represents more than just another option in the XI—she is part of the next wave of cricketers aiming to lift the team to greater heights on the global stage.
