Ramesh Kumar is a spin-bowling all-rounder who is yet to represent professionally. Hailing from Jalalabad, the cricketer is a genuine product of tennis ball cricket, who will soon ply his trade for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Kolkata-based franchise bought the rookie all-rounder at his base price.

The talented cricketer was listed as a batter in the IPL mega-auctions. But his bowling skills has been the talk of the town. The left-arm spinner can turn the ball both ways and is known by ‘Narine Jalalabadiya’ because his action resembles West Indies spinner Sunil Narine. So Kumars’ friends compelled him to work with season-ball and soon developed as the best bowler in his district.

Last year, the Punjab state team called up the youngster, where he met former India player Gurkeerat Singh Mann. The 31-year-old helped Ramesh in various ways and later represented Minerva Cricket Academy in the JP Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament. The rookie all-rounder bagged nine wickets in the first two matches there, and then Mann forwarded videos of his performances to KKR’s assistant coach, Abhishek Nayar.

Impressed by his endeavours, the Knights called the Jalalabad-born all-rounder for trials and later snapped him up at the 2022 mega-auction of the (IPL) at his base price of INR 20 Lakhs.
