Player Bio

Lachlan Shaw is an emerging Australian wicketkeeper-batter known for his sharp glovework, clean hitting, and composure beyond his years. Born on 26 December 2002, Shaw represents New South Wales in domestic cricket and plays for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League.

A product of the Cricket NSW pathway, Shaw first came through the Sydney and Northern Districts clubs in Premier Cricket, where his consistent performances quickly marked him out as a player to watch. In 2022, he represented Australia at the ICC Under-19 World Cup, top-scoring for his team in the semi-final against India with a composed half-century off 66 balls — a knock that showcased his temperament under pressure.

Shaw’s rise continued in 2024 when he was handed a rookie contract with New South Wales. That same year, he made both his List A and Sheffield Shield debuts against South Australia, followed soon after by his entry into the Big Bash League. Signing with the Sydney Sixers in December 2024, Shaw debuted against the Thunder and made an instant impression — not just with the bat but also with his electric presence behind the stumps. His stunning catch against the Adelaide Strikers was widely hailed as one of the standout fielding moments of the season.

In 2025, Shaw was rewarded with a full contract from New South Wales and earned his maiden Australia A call-up for the tour of India, underlining his growing reputation as one of the nation’s most promising young wicketkeeper-batters. Across formats, he has shown early glimpses of his potential — averaging in the 30s in List A cricket and maintaining a healthy strike rate above 130 in T20s.

Born and raised in New South Wales and an alumnus of The King’s School, Parramatta, Shaw embodies the modern cricketer: athletic, adaptable, and always ready to step up on big occasions. With his work ethic and all-round ability, he looks destined to become a regular name in both domestic and international cricket in the years ahead.
