Player Bio

Gideon Peters is a young South African cricketer who has started to make his mark in the country’s provincial competitions. A right-arm fast bowler, Peters has come through the Northerns' structures and represents a group of promising youngsters.

Growing up in Pretoria, Peters learned to play cricket on school fields, where he often had to improvise with taped tennis balls.

Peters made his first-class debut for Northerns in October 2018. Son, after that, the pacer made his List A debut as well. Both of them came against the Free State side. His T20 debut also came against the same side, but in September 2019. Later, Peters moved to the North West, but after a few years there, he joined the Warriors for the 2025-26 domestic season.

Notably, the 1999-born bowler was picked up by the Pretoria Capitals for the 2024-25 SA20 season. He impressed in a few games, especially the one against the Joburg Super Kings, which was also his first SA20 match, where he took 2/15, including the wicket of English all-rounder Moeen Ali. After the match, Peters said in an interview, "Our captain Kyle Verreynne and vice captain Will Jacks told me that it was my first game, and I had nothing to lose, just go out there and enjoy yourself, and do what you can do and bowl as quick as you can. If it comes off, it comes off – if it doesn’t, it doesn’t."

For the 2025-26 season, Peters will again represent the Pretoria Capitals.

The Pretoria boy was named in the South African ODI squad for the tri-series in Pakistan in February 2025. However, he didn't get the chance to make his international debut.

Peters is admired for his team-first mentality. As a bowler, he thrives on discipline, focusing on accuracy rather than raw pace.
