A right-handed wicket-keeper batsman, Saminda Fernando is a Sri Lankan professional cricketer. A cautious top-order batsman, Fernando first arrived in Sri Lanka’s domestic structure in February 2017 when he enrolled in Ragama Cricket Club.
The Moratuwa-born gloveman made his first-class debut against Chilaw Martians on February 14th, 2017 in the Premier League tournament. Opening the innings, the 25-year old missed out on the century by just 7 runs on his debut. A year later, the youngster made his List A debut and in February 2019, he made his debut in the shortest format.
After a string of impressive performances in the domestic circuit, Fernando was drafted in by SLC Greens for the 2021 SLC Invitational T20 League. With just over 50 appearances in domestic cricket, he has cemented his spot in Ragama Cricket Club across all formats and his next goal is to represent his country.
