Player Bio

The air was thick with tension, the kind that makes every sound feel sharper, the thud of the ball in the bowler’s hand, the shuffle of the batter’s feet. At the non-striker’s end, Grace Scrivens tapped her bat twice, eyes fixed on the field ahead. The scoreboard said the equation was tight, but her body language said something else entirely: this was her stage. When the single came, she sprinted like it mattered more than the boundary, and in truth, for her team, it did. Scrivens has never been just about the big shot; she’s about building the bridge from pressure to victory, one run, one delivery at a time.

Born on November 13, 2003, Grace Louise Scrivens is one of those rare cricketers whose game seems to have been crafted for every format without losing identity. An all-rounder with the temperament of a veteran and the hunger of a debutant, she has developed into one of England’s most promising young talents. Her journey began in the county game with Kent, where she quickly distinguished herself not only for her skill with bat and ball but for her tactical sharpness, a quality that would later make her a natural leader.

Her performances for Sunrisers in the domestic regional setup have been central to their competitiveness in both formats. She has played match-winning innings, taken game-turning wickets, and, perhaps most importantly, led from the front. Even before she was 20, Scrivens was entrusted with captaincy duties, a rare endorsement of maturity for a player so young. That leadership came into full bloom on the international stage during the 2023 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, where she captained England to the final and was the tournament’s top run-scorer.

Those who have played with her often talk about her “game sense,”  the ability to understand what the match needs at any given moment. That sense was on display in a 2024 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy game when she defended a modest total almost single-handedly with bat and ball. Having top-scored with 74, she returned with the ball to claim 3 for 33, swinging the game back her team’s way.

Her Hundred career with the London Spirit has also given her a platform to test herself against some of the best in the world. While her batting opportunities have sometimes been lower down the order, she has made them count, including a match-saving 36 not out that came under lights at Lord’s in front of a roaring crowd. With the ball, she has kept her economy tight, often trusted to bowl to set batters.

Scrivens’ numbers tell one story, but her presence tells another. She plays with a contagious energy, a sprint between the wickets that makes partners push harder, a diving stop in the field that lifts the whole side. She’s not just a performer; she’s a catalyst.

For all her achievements, Scrivens’ story feels like it’s still in its prologue. She has the raw materials to become one of the defining players of her generation, the adaptability to succeed across formats, the mentality to thrive under pressure, and the leadership to shape teams around her.

And perhaps that’s why, when the game tightens and the margins shrink, she seems so composed. Because for Grace Scrivens, cricket isn’t about waiting for the perfect moment to arrive; it’s about making it. One delivery, one decision, one determined stride at a time.
