Player Bio

A right-arm offie, Sneh Rana is a professional cricketer of the Indian Women’s team. Hailing from the Almora district in Uttarakhand, Rana started playing cricket at a very early age with the boys in her village at the age of 7. She later joined the Little Masters Club in Dehradun to pursue her dreams.

Rana made her international debut against Sri Lanka Women’s team in an ODI fixture on January 19th, 2014, and was impressive with her economical bowling against a decent batting lineup. She bowled six overs giving just 7 runs and also scalped a crucial wicket.

Just after two years of making her debut, the Almora-born spinner was dropped from the squad due to her inconsistency and continuous failure at the international stage. In the recently concluded Women’s Senior One Day Trophy, Rana, captained the Railways side when Mithali was on India duty and emerged as one of the tournament’s top performers across the board. She scored 160 runs at a superb strike-rate of 123 while topping the chart for wicket-takers with her off-spin claiming 18 wickets.

With the national side lacking middle-order firepower, Rana made a lasting impact during the one-off Test match against England in June, with her match-saving 80* in the 2nd innings, as India followed on. She also displayed her all-round prowess in the same game with her four-wicket haul in the 1st innigs. A much-improved batter, Rana would be hoping to make the most of the opportunity provided by the selectors and cement her place in the national squad in all formats.
