Player Bio

Born on March 30, 1993, Carmi le Roux has quietly carved out a cricketing career defined by resilience, adaptability, and a relentless drive to succeed. A left-arm pace bowler with the heart of a fighter, Carmi’s journey from South Africa’s domestic scene to the emerging world of American cricket is a testament to the power of persistence and belief.

Hailing from South Africa, Carmi began making his mark in the domestic circuit when he was selected to represent Gauteng in the 2016 Africa T20 Cup. His performances and potential quickly earned him further opportunities, and in 2017, he was named in the squad for Benoni Zalmi for the inaugural T20 Global League. Although the tournament was eventually cancelled—a disappointing setback for many promising players—Carmi didn't allow it to derail his ambitions.

In October 2017, he made his first-class debut for Gauteng in the Sunfoil 3-Day Cup, adding another dimension to his growing resume. Over the next two years, he remained a regular feature in South Africa's limited-overs formats, representing Gauteng in successive editions of the Africa T20 Cup and the CSA Provincial T20 Cup. In 2018, he received a significant break when he was picked to play for the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants in the Mzansi Super League, a high-profile T20 competition that showcased the country’s top talent.

However, Carmi’s cricketing journey was never confined by borders. With dual nationality and an eye on growing opportunities abroad, he turned his attention to the United States. In 2023, he joined the newly launched Major League Cricket (MLC) in the U.S., a tournament poised to revolutionise the cricketing landscape in North America. He signed with the San Francisco Unicorns, bringing his pace, experience, and competitive edge to the franchise.

By 2025, Carmi was once again drafted into the Unicorns' squad, reaffirming his value in a rapidly growing league. His ability to swing the ball, bowl with accuracy in crunch situations, and adapt to different conditions makes him a vital asset in the MLC setup.

Carmi le Roux’s story is not about overnight success or headline-making debuts—it's about consistency, hard work, and navigating setbacks with dignity and drive. From South African domestic cricket to the spotlight of American franchise cricket, he has built a career through quiet determination and a deep love for the game.

Now playing on U.S. soil, Carmi is not just contributing to the sport—he’s helping shape its future in a new territory. For young cricketers who dream of making it, regardless of where they start, Carmi le Roux is living proof that with grit, adaptability, and unwavering passion, boundaries—both literal and figurative—can be broken.
