Player Bio
A useful wicket-keeper batsman, Aditya Tare has established himself as Mumbaiās mainstay after making his List-A debut way back in 2008. After making his first-class debut the next year, Tare has grown from strength to strength with each passing season. The Saphale-native had a fantastic 2012-13 Ranji season with 842 runs to help Mumbai lift their 40th title. He also made a wicket-keeping record with 41 dismissals in the same season.
Since then, he has managed to remain really consistent with the bat especially in red-ball cricket by scoring more than 500 runs for five consecutive seasons between 2012 and 2017. A high point in his domestic career also came when Tare took over the Ranji Trophy captaincy reins from Suryakumar Yadav and led Mumbai to their 41st title. After being a pretty exciting white-ball cricketer even during his early days, Tare added consistency to his game by doing well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy over the past few seasons.
In terms of the IPL, Tare got his first taste in 2010 after Mumbai Indians had spotted him in a local match. He didnāt have a great beginning by scoring just 50 runs from seven matches and this resulted in no matches for the next two seasons. Finally, in 2013, Tare scored his half-century against Rajasthan Royals with the team eventually going onto lift their first-ever title. The next season was unspectacular but Tare hit the headlines by scoring a six off his very ball against Rajasthan Royals to help Mumbai make a miraculous entry into the play-offs. With Mumbaiās playoff spot depending on net run-rate, Tare got his side over the line and smashing James Faulkner.
In 2015, the form dipped and he was released by Mumbai Indians thereafter. However, ahead of the 2016 season, Tare was bought for a whopping INR 1.2 Crores by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Unfortunately, he couldnāt impress and Sunrisers Hyderabad released him into the auction pool once again. After playing three matches for Delhi Daredevils in 2017, Tare was back with Mumbai Indians for the 2018 IPL season. However, he has not been able to make even one IPL appearance since then due to the presence of players like Quinton de Kock and Ishan Kishan.
