Player Bio

A tall speedster from Harare who has a great inswinging yorker, Blessing Muzarabani is a right-arm fast bowler who plays cricket for the Zimbabwe national team. Spotted at a very young age, Muzarabani was fast-tracked into the national setup, and the bowler was included in the Test squad for the series against South Africa in December 2017.

A few months later, after his Test debut, the youngster was given another chance to impress everyone in the shorter formats of the game, making his ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2018.

However, it wasn’t until 2020 that the world saw the real Muzarabani– in an ODI match against a strong Pakistani side in 2020, the speedster grabbed his maiden five-wicket haul in ODI cricket, registering figures of 5 for 49. The match ended in a tie, and Muzarabani was the hero in the Super Over, picking up 2 wickets and giving away just 2 runs to give his batters a three-run chase, which they pulled off.

By 2021, Blessing Muzarabani had firmly established himself as Zimbabwe’s premier fast bowler, and the year became a pivotal chapter in his career. His performances on the international stage were no longer a promise of potential but a demonstration of his undeniable skill and growing influence.

In February 2025, Muzarabani achieved a career-defining moment during a one-off Test against Ireland in Bulawayo, where he delivered an unforgettable spell of fast bowling. His 7/58 was not only his best-ever performance in Test cricket, but also the best-ever figures by a Zimbabwean pacer in the history of the format. This extraordinary feat was instrumental in helping restrict Ireland to 260 in their first innings, setting the stage for Zimbabwe’s strong response. It was a performance that encapsulated his skill, control, and ruthless efficiency — qualities that had made him a constant threat in the longest format of the game.

The high point of his year continued in April-May 2025, when Muzarabani led Zimbabwe’s charge in Bangladesh during their Test series. He finished as the leading wicket-taker for Zimbabwe, claiming 10 wickets across the series.

His contribution was invaluable in keeping Zimbabwe competitive, even as Bangladesh’s strong batting lineup posed challenges. Muzarabani’s control, accuracy, and sheer persistence throughout the series were key to ensuring Zimbabwe remained in the hunt, further cementing his reputation as a bowler capable of matching the best.
