Left-arm orthodox spinner from Tamil Nadu and a product of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), R Sai Kishore was one of the leading wicket-takers during the inaugural edition of the tournament with 12 wickets.
With an amazing performance in the next season with 17 wickets, he secured a berth in the state team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. During TNPL 2016, he was involved in an ugly spat with N Jagdeesan. After picking Jagdeesan’s wicket, he celebrated in a violent fashion and even pushed his current teammate. R Ashwin, on the other hand, wasn’t quite impressed with his attitude and took a class with the youngster just after.
Sai Kishore Domestic Career
After leading the wicket-taking charts in TNPL 2017 with 17 wickets, Sai Kishore was promoted to captain of Trichy Warriors in 2019. His economy in first-class matches is 2.68, and in T20 it is 5.45; he was noticed during the IPL auctions.
R Sai Kishore finished as the leading wicket-taker in the 2019 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He astonished everyone with his variations and wicket-taking ability. He took 20 wickets in just 12 games at an economy of 4.67. Most of the wickets were in the power play, which impressed everyone with his knack for providing crucial breakthroughs.
Sai Kishore IPL Career
Sai Kishore attended the trials of various IPL teams but unfortunately couldn’t make it to any IPL squad. Ahead of the IPL 2019, Sai Kishore was a part of the pre-season camp of CSK. Being consistent in the first two days of the camp, he was dispatched all over the stands on the third day by the skipper, MS Dhoni.
During the 2020 IPL auction, he was bought by CSK for the upcoming IPL season. Learning from the likes of Imran Tahir and Harbhajan Singh in the last IPL, Sai Kishore can be a lethal spinner regardless of the conditions. Yet to make a debut in IPL for CSK and with the departure of Harbhajan Singh and Piyush Chawla, he would be hoping to capitalise on any openings handed to him.
R Sai Kishore was released by CSK ahead of the mega-auction of 2022 and was then bought by the Gujarat Titans (GT) after they signed the left-arm spinner for INR 3 crores.
Since joining the Titans, he has steadily grown into an important member of the bowling unit. In IPL 2025, he delivered another strong campaign with 19 wickets in 15 matches, playing a key role in GT’s run to the knockouts. Acknowledging his calibre, Kishore was retained by the IPL franchise for the 2026 season.
