Player Bio

An aggressive top-order batsman, Daniel Hughes is a professional Australian cricketer who forced his way into the New South Wales Blues side on the sheer weight of runs in Sydney grade competition. He set the benchmark for other batsmen with scores of 78, 66, 146 and 200 in the first four rounds of the 2015-16 Sydney Grade competition.

On the back of his exploits in grade cricket, Hughes signed for Sydney Sixers in the second edition of the Big Bash League (BBL). One of the Sixer’s all-time leading run-scorer, he claimed his first BBL title in the ninth edition and also capped off a very successful year by winning his second Steve Waugh Medal in three seasons.

Hughes captained the Sixers for the first time in the championship-winning season when Moises Henriques was on paternal leave. Having stockpiled over 1700 runs in the BBL, the 32-year old is one of the key figures for the Men in Magenta.
