Alishan Sharafu represents the next generation of UAE cricket— composed, confident, and full of promise. A right-handed batter known for his fearless stroke play and calm temperament, Sharafu has already made his presence felt on both international and franchise stages, including with the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20.
Born in Kanhangad, Kerala, and raised in the United Arab Emirates, Alishan’s cricketing journey began during childhood visits to India, where the 2011 World Cup win ignited his passion for the game. What started as backyard cricket soon transformed into a professional ambition, leading him through the UAE’s youth system and onto the world stage.
After standout performances at the Under-16 and Under-19 levels, Sharafu earned selection for the 2020 ICC Under-19 World Cup, where his unbeaten 59 against Nigeria showcased his poise under pressure.
Later that year, he broke into the UAE senior team, making his T20I debut against Iran in February 2020 and his ODI debut against Ireland in January 2021. His leadership qualities came to the fore when he captained the UAE at the 2022 Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies.
