On Friday, the USA revealed their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, and the team featured 14 members who played the last World Cup in 2024. Interestingly, the team will play their second T20 World Cup, and the last time around, the squad reached the Super 8 stage.

As expected, Monank Patel will lead the side, with key players such as Andries Gous, and Saurabh Netravaklar added in the team as the USA aim to recreate the performances of the 2024 edition.

The squad has a great mixture of youth and a bit of experience as the team aims to cause upsets in the upcoming World Cup. The highly talented Shubham Ranjane is touted to make his World Cup debut, while Mohammad Mohsin and Shehan Jayasuriya are reportedly in line to make their USA debut.

Key players for USA in T20 World Cup

For the USA to deliver the goods and go through the distance, the team needs several of its key players to come of age, as the team is placed in a tricky group. For starters, their skipper, Monank Patel holds the key as the batter needs to score truckloads of runs at the top.

Patel has 920 T20I runs at a strike rate of 137.51, and his aggressive batting will come in handy for the USA side who are playing their second T20 World Cup.

Another player who needs to up his ante with the bat is Andries Gous. He was the star of their batting lineup in the 2024 edition, scoring 219 runs and the USA fans will hope that he can once again turn up on tricky India/Sri Lankan wickets.

With the ball, the onus will lie on Saurabh Netravalkar, who was the X-factor for the USA in the 2024 World Cup and scalped 6 wickets as the team reached the Super 8 stage of the competition.

There is also Milind Kumar on the side, who can not only chip in with the bat but can also deliver with the ball. In T20Is, he has accumulated 322 runs, and has also scalped 12 wickets, with an economy of just 6.89, and the USA side will hope he can deliver the goods.

Just like last time, the USA is placed in a tricky group as their group comprises of Pakistan, India, Namibia, and netherlands. The side will fancy their chances against the Dutch and Namibia, but the two difficult games will be against India and Pakistan.
