India crushed New Zealand in the first T20I of the series in Nagpur and made a statement to announce themselves as the “best T20I side in the world.” Almost all the boxes were ticked as Abhishek Sharma once again gave a fiery start, Suryakumar Yadav got some runs under his belt, and Rinku Singh gave a finishing flurry.

The bowling attack looked a bit lethargic, but Team India will aim to rectify the mistake in the second T20I in Raipur. New Zealand, on the other hand had plenty of problems. The bowling couldn't contain Abhishek, and the batters failed to deliver the goods.

While India will aim to strengthen their position in the series, the Kiwis will aim for a comeback. With that, we take a look at what transpired at the toss and the team changes made.

IND Vs NZ: Toss updates

India won the toss and captain Suryakumar Yadav had no hesitation in electing to bowl as dew will settle down as the game progresses and batting will become easier for India. In the last game, India batted first, and chasing in this game will allow India to test their batting strength and depth.

The team has made two changes - Axar Patel, who got hurt in the first T20I is rested, and so does Jasprit Bumrah. In their place, India have brought in Harshit Rana and Kuldeep Yadav. Bumrah was expensive in the first T20I, and has been given a rest by the captain.

The Kiwis lost the first T20I in a one-sided battle, and as a result, they have made three key changes for this game. Zak Foulkes, Matt Henry and Tim Seifert are included, and Kyle Jamieson, Kristian Clarke and Tim Robinson miss out.

What the captains said at the toss

Suryakumar Yadav: "We will look to bowl first. Already there is a bit of dew out there, we haven't chased in a while, so want to chase tonight. I think, it looks good. Same wicket which was used for the ODIs. Hopefully, lots of runs. We play every game, we try and get better. We are not perfect. We would look to try to do the same things again, we will try to do the same in bowling, fielding and batting."

Mitch Santner: "Every time you play against a quality side there is always something to learn which we did. The way they came out with the bat, throughout the whole innings they came out pretty hard. We know that now on the bowling side so we gotta be bit clearer with our plans and try and squeeze them a little bit more."
