Cricket South Africa (CSA) has recalled Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Eathan Bosch back into the South Africa national squad for the first T20I of their three-match home series against West Indies. The two youngsters will be replacing Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s SA20 2026 winning trio of Quinton de Kock, Tristan Stubbs and Marco Jansen.
It is worth noting that the board has decided to rest Quinton, Stubbs and Jansen for a match following their SA20 2026 final success earlier this week over Pretoria Capitals in Cape Town.
CSA rest T20 World Cup 2026 members from West Indies T20I
On Monday, January 26, i.e., just a day before the launch of South Africa’s three-match T20I series against West Indies, CSA added Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Eathan Bosch to the national squad for the first match at the Boland Park in Paarl.
The two cricketers were added to the squad at the expense of Quinton de Kock, Tristan Stubbs and Marco Jansen, with each of them getting a rest from the series-opener following their SA20 2026 final appearance in Cape Town on January 25.
Notably, Quinton de Kock, Tristan Stubbs and Marco Jansen are also placed in South Africa’s 15-player squad for the upcoming 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka next month. Meanwhile, the three-match T20I series against West Indies marks a testing ground for both sides before the showpiece event in the subcontinent.
With Quinton, Stubbs and Jansen getting rested from the first T20I against West Indies; the experienced South African trio will be expected to join the starting XI in the remaining two games to fine-tune themselves for the 2026 T20 World Cup. Here is a look at the updated South Africa squad for the T20I series against West Indies.
South Africa squad for three-match T20I series vs West Indies
Aiden Markram (c), Corbin Bosch, Eathan Bosch (1st T20I only), Dewald Brevis, Quinton de Kock (2nd and 3rd T20Is), Rubin Hermann, Marco Jansen (2nd and 3rd T20Is), George Linde, Keshav Maharaj, Kwena Maphaka, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Lhuan-dre Pretorius (1st T20I only), Kagiso Rabada, Ryan Rickelton, Jason Smith and Tristan Stubbs (2nd and 3rd T20Is)
Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Eathan Bosch blessed with rare opportunity
While Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Eathan Bosch have not been selected in South Africa squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup, the two cricketers have now been presented with a rare opportunity to showcase themselves just before the showpiece event.
If 19-year-old Pretorius receives a place in the playing XI against West Indies, it would mark his return to the national team after playing the ODI series in Pakistan a couple of months ago.
Eathan Bosch, brother of South Africa’s T20 World Cup 2026 member Corbin Bosch, is yet to make his T20I debut and played the only ODI of his career back in February 2025.
South Africa to face West Indies in T20 World Cup 2026 prep series
South Africa will now host West Indies in a series of three T20I matches between January 27 and January 31. The matches will be hosted by Paarl, Centurion and Johannesburg respectively.
The series marks the final round of international fixtures for both sides before next month’s 2026 T20 World Cup.
