Ahead of the upcoming India vs New Zealand T20I series starting from January 21, star batter Rinku Singh has landed in legal trouble. Notably, the Aligarh-based cricketer has been reported for hurting religious sentiments.
The southpaw has landed in hot waters for sharing a reel on his social media platform, which featured an AI video of Hindu deities. For the unversed, Rinku joined the latest trend on social media, where gods are shown in modern avatar using AI, particularly driving a car.
Rinku joined the bandwagon by sharing a reel, depicting his India career and thanking the gods behind his journey. However, the reel has not gone well with the religious group, Karni Sena and they have filed a complaint against the 28-year-old at a police station in Aligarh as reported by Bhaskar English.
Karni sena explains reason for filing complaint against Rinku
Notably, Karni sena were hurt by the AI modernisation of hindu gods and have demanded a public apology from Rinku Singh. The leaders also made distateful remarks against Rinku and and compared his mindset with Shahrukh Khan during their protest against the social media reel.
"Rinku Singh is a part of Shah Rukh Khan's IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders. Like Shah Rukh, Rinku has revealed his true mentality. Making our God wear black glasses, driving him in a Thar, and showing him dancing to English songs is playing with faith," Karni Sena stated.
"Karni Sena will not tolerate this. Rinku Singh should publicly apologise to Sanatan Dharma with folded hands. The administration should immediately file an FIR against Rinku Singh. If no action is taken, the organisation will take to the streets and launch a major agitation."
Netizens come to Rinku's defence
The leaders have accused Rinku of creating the reel, while the internet has come to the cricketer's defence and pointed out that he only shared it. Notably, Rinku is not the only cricketer or citizen to share such reels as million of users have done the same in the past week, since the trend has picked up on Instagram and other platforms.
Meanwhile, the internet is also divided as a section has defend Rinku stating that the southpaw had all good intentions while sharing the reel, while another section has backed Karni sena as they too felt offended by the latest trend featuring gods.
Rinku Singh Enjoys Jungle Safari in Nagpur
So far, Rinku has made no comments on the matter as the 28-year-old is busy preparing for upcoming T20I series against New Zealand in Nagpur. The Men in Blue are all set to lock horns against the Kiwis for the first ODI starting from January 21.
The camp is set in Nagpur, where Rinku is sweating hard in the nets. Further, Singh recently went for a jungle safari alongside Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and Ravi Bishnoi. However, it is likely that Rinku will issue a clarification soon because the matter is spreading like wildfire.
