India’s star figure Ravi Shastri has reportedly landed in hot water. The Malaysia T10 league, which is co-founded by the 1983 World Cup winner, has been hit with financial issues. Notably, the inaugural edition of ‘Pro10 Malaysia’, which is all set to begin from January 30, has already landed in absolute chaos.

Notably, a circular has gone viral on social media from a senior journalist Peter Della Penna, where it was revealed that the league owners didn’t book hotels for the players, and the flights were also not confirmed until the last moment.

“Players without flights a day before matches. Coaches & cricketers reached hotels to find no rooms booked, left stranded for hours. Hotels say the league refused payment; owners asked players to pay upfront,” read the tweet.

Hotels unbooked, flight issues for players in Malaysia

Further, the tweet also attached the screenshot of the mail by the hotel ‘Fourpoints’ stating that the league didn’t make payments and all the players who are staying at the premises will have to pay from their own pockets for any services.

"We wish to inform you of an important update regarding the billing arrangements for the Pro10 League group. Due to non-fulfilment of the agreed payment terms by the organiser, we are no longer able to extend group credit facilties," read the hotel statement.

"Effective immediately, your stay will be placed on a personal account. This means that room charges and incidentals will be settled directly by you for the remainder of your stay. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and greatly appreciate your understanding," it added.

"For clarification regarding the group's payment obligations, we kindly advise you to contact the organiser directly. Should you require any assistance with billing or payment arrangements, our Front Office team will be pleased to assist you,” read the hotel statement.

Australian journalist Daniel Cherny has also confirmed that the league has been postponed indefinitely following payment defaulters.

Ravi Shastri and Viv Richards under the scanner

Notably, on November 20, 2025, it was revealed that Ravi is bringing in a new T10 league in Malaysia. It is a four-day event with just ten matches, and the final on February 2. Further, the league had announced Sir Viv Richards as the brand ambassador.

At present, Ravi Shastri has not issued any comments regarding this matter, but he is under the scanner and will have to sort the mess soon. For the unversed, the league promoted top talents, and it was all set to feature the likes of Andre Russell, Tom Curran, Chris Jordan and Angelo Matthews.

Scotland players featuring in the Pro10 league

The league, which features 4 teams have quite big names playing for them. Interestingly, Scottish players are also part of the league. The likes of George Munsey and a few others had already penned a deal with the league before Scotland got a wildcard entrance for the T20 World Cup 2026.

For the unversed, Scotland were not part of the T20 World Cup 2026, but after Bangladesh made a bizarre demand to shift their games out of India, the ICC decided to replace The Tigers for the prestigious T20 league.

Therefore, the Pro10 league in Malaysia will now serve as a nice practice ground for the upcoming tournament in India and Sri Lanka.
