In a significant development, reports suggest that the PCB is now out of the picture, and ICC is all set to hold a meeting with BCB to resolve their issues. For the unversed, on Sunday, February 8, the Mohsin Naqvi-led board held a meeting with ICC deputy chairman in Lahore in presence of BCB chairman.

The motive of the meeting was to resolve India-Pakistan ties and urge PCB to reverse its decision to boycott the India match on February 15. So far, several reports flouted on the internet that Mohsin Naqvi put 3 demands in front of the ICC. A few also mentioned that the Jay Shah-led council threatened PCB with strict action.

Nothing concrete came out as to why the Bangladesh Cricket Board was present in the meeting, since Scotland have already replaced The Tigers in the World Cup. However, a report from BDcrickettimes revealed BCB’s role in the meeting and stated that the president, Aminul Islam Bulbul, has thanked PCB for taking a stand for Bangladesh.

ICC likely to allow hybrid model for Bangladesh game

A report from BDcrictimes mentioned that the ICC is actually looking to give T20 World Cup 2026 revenue share to The Tigers despite their absence from the prestigious twenty-over event. The report also added that ICC is also open to allow a hybrid venue for India-Bangladesh games in future.

“The ICC has shown a positive attitude toward Bangladesh’s demands. A possible resolution framework has also been drafted to reduce the tension between the world governing body and the BCB. Under that plan, Bangladesh could receive financial compensation, a share of World Cup revenues, and the option to play future India-hosted events under a hybrid model if needed. Throughout the negotiations, the PCB reportedly acted as a key coordinator between the ICC and BCB,” read the report.

ICC-BCCI to hold another round of talks

For the unversed, there were reports that PCB might reverse their decision to boycott India match on February 15. However, in the latest events, ICC representative Imran Khwaja has already returned to the ICC headquarters and is expected to brief Chairman Jay Shah and other board members soon.

Meanwhile, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi is also set to speak with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who will hold a high-level cabinet meeting to decide the future of India-Pakistan matches. Meanwhile, the BDcrictimes report also added that the PCB is now out of picture as ICC and BCB are set for another round of talks.

Now, the reason why PCB agreed to a talk with ICC is that Mohsin Naqvi sought to initiate force Majeure which would have saved them from possible sanctions coming there way. However, the ICC refused Pakistan’s claims, citing selective withdrawal. Therefore, it sent a panic wave among the PCB, forcing them to initiate a dialogue with the ICC. A final decision on the matter is expected in next coupld of days.
