Without a doubt, India’s top three in T20Is – Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ishan Kishan – are the most destructive top-order unit in the world.
As Ishan and Abhishek hold the top two ranks in the current ICC rankings for T20I batters, coupled with the spectacular rise of Sooryavanshi, any team would dream of having such a lethal combination in the shortest format of the game.
Ishan came back into the spotlight on Saturday during the second T20I between India and Zimbabwe, which took place in Harare. With nine fours and two sixes, he smashed 81 off just 44 balls, helping him win the Player of the Match award later on.
Riding on Ishan’s blistering knock, India piled up 219/5 batting first. Zimbabwe, in reply, could only muster 129 before being bundled out within 17.5 overs.
Ishan Kishan Opens Up On Pressure Linked To Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma
While Ishan Kishan made all the headlines on Saturday, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma could not do much in the IND vs ZIM 2nd T20I. While Sooryavanshi, aged 15, could last only nine balls for his quickfire 20, Abhishek had a run-a-ball 8 before Blessing Muzarabani sent him packing.
Speaking after the match, as quoted by PTI, Ishan revealed whether he was bothered by outside noise, which often hypes Abhishek and Sooryavanshi but not him.
"I don't give so much focus to what's happening outside. I know the way I have to play and what's important is to just be in the moment. Don't think about who is getting more runs or who is hitting more.” Ishan said.

"Everyone can have that image in the team. But as a number three batter, you need to understand what's important when two wickets are down early. You want to keep going. You want to take your chances or build a partnership. You need to understand the wicket and what's happening," he added.
Ishan Seems More Focused On His Own Game
Furthermore, Ishan explained how he works on himself to stay focused on his own game, rather than concentrating on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma.
"When you are in those 22 yards, you just need to be aware of what's happening around you and what you want from the game. Either I want to cry about it, or I want to work hard and get into the team. I chose the second option—working hard, getting runs, and making my team win," he added.
"When things are not going your way, it's better to think about performance rather than feeling sorry about things which are not in your control. A lot of support came from my friends and family," he concluded.
If he does not get rested, Ishan Kishan will be back in action on Sunday (July 26) in the third and final T20I in Harare. The Men in Blue, led by Shreyas Iyer, have already won the three-match series, winning the first match by seven wickets, followed by a 90-run triumph.
Alongside Ishan, it will be interesting to see whether the BCCI decides to rest either Vaibhav Sooryavanshi or Abhishek Sharma.
