In a significant development, Cricket South Africa, on Tuesday, announced the schedule of the T20I series against India Women ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. Harmanpreet Kaur-led India Women will travel to South Africa for a five-match T20I series to fine-tune their skills heading to the T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, the home series against India will serve as the final dress rehearsal for South Africa before the Women's T20 World Cup.

The Indian cricketers are currently featuring in the WPL 2026 season. While two pillars of the Indian Women's team, Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana, are captaining MI and RCB, respectively, the likes of Deepti Sharma, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Renuka Singh Thakur have been the vital cogs for their franchises.
After the conclusion of the WPL 2026, India are set face Australia in seven matches, including three T20Is, ODIs, and a Test. The multi-format tour kicks off on February 15, with both teams taking on each other in the inaugural T20I at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground. Following their tour to Down Under, the Women in Blue will travel to South Africa for five T20Is in April.
As revealed by Cricket South Africa, the Kingsmead in Durban will host the first two matches, with the subsequent matches being played in Johannesburg. The decider of the five-match series between India and South Africa will be played in Benoni. India will then face England in a three-match T20I series, while South Africa will straightaway enter the T20 World Cup after the five-match home series.
"Facing a team of India's quality so close to a World Cup is exactly what the Proteas Women need at this stage of the preparation," Enoch Nkwe, CSA director of national teams and high performance, was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
"It gives them an opportunity to test themselves against a top-level opponent, fine-tune their combinations and ensure they are executing their plans under pressure. This series will play a key role in sharpening the team's readiness ahead of the T20 World Cup," he added.

Under Harmanpreet Kaur's leadership, India women enjoyed stellar success in T20Is last year. The Women in Blue played 10 T20Is, winning eight of them, while also clinching their maiden ODI World Cup title by defeating South Africa in the final.
Talking about India's T20 World Cup 2026 schedule, they are slated to face arch-rivals Pakistan in their first group-stage match on June 14. India Women are placed in group-A alongside Pakistan, South Africa, Australia and two qualifying teams that have yet to be finalised. They will play their first match at Edgbaston before the caravan shifts to Headingley, Manchester, and Lord's.
