The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the punishments on October 5 after both teams fell short of the required over-rate.It is important to note that India were fined 20 per cent of their match fee, while West Indies received a 10% fine. The penalties came after India were ruled to be four overs short and West Indies two overs short after time allowances were taken into account.India Receive Bigger Fine Than West Indies After 3rd ODIIt is worth noting that India have been fined more than West Indies for maintaining a slow over rate.Both captains, India captain Shubman Gill and West Indies captain Shai Hope, pleaded guilty to the offences and accepted the proposed sanctions. In the 3rd ODI, West Indies delivered a memorable performance despite losing the three-match series 2-1. Shai Hope played a captain’s knock and made an unbeaten 162 off 143 balls as West Indies successfully chased down India’s 352-run target.When Was The Last Time India Was Fined for Maintaining A Slow Over Rate?The last time India was fined for a slow over rate was in December 2025, during the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur.India bowled two overs fewer than required within the given time. As a result, the team was fined 10% of its match fees.
